Seems Steady ‘Hic’ Eddie McAtominey is still protesting his innocence by claiming he’s not guilty of failing to provide a specimen. The charge follows his arrest on suspicion of drink driving on May 19th.
Despite predictions from a number of sources including Mr Monkey, councillor McAtominey decided against changing his plea to guilty at yesterday’s pre-trial hearing at Peterlee Magistrates Court. His trial date has now been set for January 21st.
At least he’ll be able to spend Christmas and New Year at home!
Earlier this week councillor McAtominey was convicted on a seperate charge of drink driving and banned for 21 months following an incident in Hebburn on Monday afternoon.
