how much does a conservative councillor cost the taxpayer?

Earlier this week Mr Monkey revealed how 2 local Conservative councillors managed to claim nearly £7,000 in expenses in the past 12 months. CLICK HERE and HERE.

Conservative leader councillor David Potts pocketed £3,393 in expenses in 2008 – 09 and during the same period his Cleadon and East Boldon colleague councillor Milburn claimed £3,448.

The Conservative group on South Tyneside council consists of just 3 councillors and this is what they cost the taxpayer in 2008 – 09

Mr. Monkey are you going to tell us which outside bodies these councillors were appointed to?
Are you going to tell us which meetings of those bodies they attended on our behalf?
Are going to tell us which central body makes the travelling arrangements and bookings for ALL of our councillors?
Are you going to tell us who they travelled with or by?
Are you going to tell us which other councillors are on outside bodies Mr. Monkey?
Are we going to hear how much they claimed in travel allowances Mr. Monkey?
Are going to tell us of any councillors who pledged NEVER to claim any allowances?

Or are we meant to be content with half a story?

All credit to Donald Wood. Perhaps he should be leader of the Conservative group within the Council?

What is particularly disgusting about this situation is that Potts clearly sees the system as existing for his own financial benefit.

It is also becoming clear, via the comments on his “Twitter” site (http://twitter.com/DavidPotts101), that he somehow feels victimised. He is ignorant of the current anger over MP expenses and has no conception of the fact that his failure to attend meetings, inflated claims etc, are unacceptable.

No wonder the Scots sacked him.

If he spent as much time paying attention to the Cleadon and East Boldon Ward as he does to his fictitious conversations with http://twitter.com/curly15 then the people wouldn’t have to turn to alternative representatives to solve their problems….but that’s a story for another forum and another day.

Where exactly was Jeff Millburn needing to travel to and from to incur these expenses?

When he unsuccessfully tried to be selected as the Parliamentary candidate for South Shields it was on the platform he was a local man, available at “the end of the phone” to drop everything.

Well said Philip Carey and Twittering. Except – Wood MUST take leadership of his group. If he doesnt – all will be lost for wee Milburn.

Hello, its time for your “Couldn’t Give a 4XXXX Forecast” from your elected dullard and financial fop.

Here are my financial predictions for the next 12 months.

“Milburn Forecourt down by six – you can’t scrap cars for £2000 when you only sell them for £12.80 (hatch back, no windows or wheels, frame only, one careless driver)

“Allowances down by full negative – we’ve been rumbled by the MFT (Monkey Financial Times)”

“Wood, as a commodity, is up by 100%”

“Bullies are level by 10, and I have no dinner money”.

“Scalinis are short by a crust, but up by a bruchetta”

“Predict a good position at the Red Lion, but may drop short due to intervention of bull”

“Forecast re meeting attendance is soooooo ….. nil”

“Curly prediction is short on visitors, nil on height, zero on cronies and well below the mark on expectations”

Look forward to letting you all down with next months forecast!
